Dr. Cathy Quinones is the Center's Associate Director. She assists Center director,
Dr. Patricia Marsteller, in all areas, in particular those relating to the Center's Howard
Hughes Medical Institute award.
Dr. Quinones also directs the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience
(SURE) program. SURE creates summertime research experiences
for undergraduates from Emory and other colleges and universities, and helps students
prepare for graduate and postgraduate work by emphasizing research ethics and mentorship.
She earned her B.S. degree in wildlife and fisheries science from Texas
A&M University, and completed a doctoral degree in biology at the University
of California, Santa Cruz. In her spare time, Dr. Quinones enjoys cycling to
work and everywhere else, gardening and digital photography. And she
loves puppies.
