Evaluation Through formative and summative assessments, we hope to continually improve the PRISM program and demonstrate its positive impact on participants. Our evaluation matrix was approved by the Emory University Institutional Review Board and the corresponding committees at each of the four participating school districts.
These assessments aim to capture changing practices and attitudes about science and education among teachers, graduate students, undergraduates, and the middle and high school students who experience PRISM lessons. We also hope to show some impact on student learning. We have developed several instruments to aid in our data collection. Some items have been adapted from other sources. Our 2004 Annual Report shows some preliminary data and analyses from these evaluations.
