Do I need to declare my SURE award?

Please consult the IRS for additional information on how to declare your award.

The typical SURE award consists of a waiver for campus housing (approximately $1,340 per student), waiver for the summer registration fee ($178, paid directly to the institution, to grant access to University facilities) and a stipend of $3,500 (paid directly to the awardee). Students who are supported by their own mentors are typically hired by their departments and paid through payroll. These costs (housing, registration, stipend) are covered by our grants and awards.
