Dr. Pat Marsteller (NBB, Emory) worked with Leah Anderson, a graduate student in Neuroscience, to create cases for NBB 190 (Mismeasure of Woman, Mismeasure of Man). The course is currently being taught in the Spring 2005 semester. The cases are problem-based and center around the major topics typically covered during the semester such as: hormones & behavior, testing & intelligence, single-sex education, and chromosomes & gender. After reviewing the cases, the students will have the opportunity to respond through a variety of mediums like debate-style discussions, persuasive writing assignments, interactive websites, newspaper articles, or other individual creations. This course is a freshman seminar, but some of the cases might be implemented in introductory biology classes as well.
