Dr. Barry
Yedvobnick (Chemistry, Emory) created a 21st Century Medicine
course on Experiments, Issues, and Ethics. This class is a freshman
seminar limited to 18 students that will be offered in fall 2005
or spring 2006. While it addresses questions about genetics and
medicine, it also provides discussion about ethical issues. Topics
include human disease, genomics and drug discovery, human stem cells
(therapeutic vs. reproductive cloning), HIV and malaria, what gets
reported in clinical trials, and chronic diseases.
