Human "Races"
A Positive Conclusion
|
|
Possible correlations
that may be made between traits (such as cognition, disease, or athletic
ability) and skin color do not classify darker skinned and lighter
skinned peoples as separate races. Rather, darker skinned individuals
are simply human beings whose ancestral environmental pressures selected
for the trait of increased pigmentation darker skin. Secondary traits
are not bound to the trait of skin color by a cause and effect relationship.
It is imperative that we treat both the socioeconomic and medical
troubles of our people and move beyond restricting our vision to black
and white. Only then will we be able to see and appreciate, once and
for all, all of the colors and possibilities that blend together to
make us that rare and wonderful amalgamation that defines the human
species. |
