Definitions of Genius

The popular view of intelligence, which is the basis of genius, is that it is a single general capacity possessed by every individual to a greater or lesser extent and it is measurable.

Our definition of genius and intelligence is that they are unique talents or capacities that an individual excels in. Genius is not limited to specific fields and every field produces geniuses. These individuals may share a title, but their differences are vast.

Howard Gardner's book Frames of Mind contradicts the popular view of intelligence and states that a number of intelligences exist which yield a unique cognitive profile for each individual.
